Position Overview:
We are seeking a systems-savvy, execution-focused HR Operations Manager to own and build the core infrastructure that powers the full employee lifecycle at TechTorch. This is a highly operational role—not focused on HR strategy or partnering—but on creating, running, and continuously improving the engine behind People Operations.
You will lead all logistics across onboarding, offboarding, payroll coordination, HR systems, compliance, and documentation. This includes provisioning tools, managing vendor platforms, and ensuring every detail across the employee experience is accurate, compliant, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities:
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Manage the full onboarding/offboarding lifecycle, including:
- System access setup and deprovisioning (email, Slack, HRIS, internal tools)
- Laptop procurement, setup, and shipping coordination
- Employment agreements, documentation, and data entry
HR Systems & Infrastructure
- Own and manage the HR tech stack: HRIS, payroll, time tracking, and documentation systems
- Administer and troubleshoot platforms like Gusto, Remote, Checkr, and Vanta
- Maintain high data integrity across systems and records
Payroll & Benefits
- Coordinate payroll operations with Finance and external vendors
- Oversee benefits administration and employee inquiries
Compliance & Documentation
- Manage compliance processes including I-9s, document audits, and state registrations
- Monitor and maintain employment-related documentation and handbooks
- Ensure readiness for audits and regulatory requirements (U.S. and global)
Employee Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for HR operations questions and systems issues
- Support performance management cycles (reviews, PIPs) and help address complex or sensitive topics (e.g., visas, accommodations)
Process Improvement & Scaling
- Identify gaps and lead automation, standardization, and process improvement across People Ops
- Build documentation templates and internal guides to streamline workflows
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in HR operations, generalist roles, or people systems management
- Hands-on ownership of onboarding/offboarding logistics, IT coordination, and account provisioning
- Proficiency in HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., Gusto, Rippling, BambooHR)
- Familiarity with U.S. state regulations, I-9 compliance, and employment documentation
- Detail-oriented and structured; you care about naming conventions and clean spreadsheets
- Strong multitasking and project management skills in a remote-first environment
- Experience supporting visa processes and managing background/security checks (e.g., Checkr, Vanta) is a plus
