TechTorch is seeking an experienced and organized Workforce Manager to manage staffing operations for our consultants and technical talent. This Workforce Manager will play a pivotal role in enhancing organizational efficiency and employee and client satisfaction while cultivating a thriving workforce. By optimizing workforce utilization, fostering retention, effectively mapping resources to project requirements, and aligning individual career goals with business objectives, this role will contribute to the company’s overall growth and success.
 

Key responsibilities include:

Talent & Engagement Management:

  • In collaboration with project delivery managers, you will provide strategic oversight for consultant engagements, from onboarding to project completion, ensuring successful outcomes for both the business and resource.
  • Proactively identify resources for project requirements while aligning with business needs and individual career aspirations.
  • Effectively manage consultant and project escalations by identifying root causes, implementing timely solutions, and minimizing disruptions to project timelines and client satisfaction.
  • Conduct effective monthly 1:1 consultant meetings in person or via video conference to engage and assess project status and consultant satisfaction.
  • Track and validate employee attendance and billable hours.
  • Develop a comprehensive skills training program to equip consultants with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in key offerings.
  • Manage performance reviews, coaching, and development programs.
  • Provide staffing insights to senior leadership and delivery managers to inform workforce planning and recruitment strategies.
  • Serve as the key point of contact for staffing-related matters, building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
 

Resource Allocation and Capability Mapping:

  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the skills, capabilities, and expertise of all consultants and technical staff.
  • Continuously assess and document employee skills growth to ensure effective mapping to projects.
 

Project Collaboration:

  • Conduct weekly resource meetings with sales and delivery teams to identify new demand and validate end dates for existing projects.
  • Work closely with project leaders to understand staffing needs for upcoming projects and create staffing plans to meet those requirements.
  • Anticipate future demand by working with business development and delivery teams to forecast staffing needs.
 

Operations Management:

  • Establish processes and implement tools to track and optimize weekly utilization of resources.
  • Minimize bench time by confirming first-day starts and ensuring consultants have received all relevant details regarding engagement.
  • Document any changes in client project work and expectations.
  • Perform workforce-planning-related data gathering and analytics, ensuring data consistency and validity.
  • Assist managers in maintaining daily attendance and ensuring compliance with absence policies.
  • Maintain staffing reports and dashboards to track resource utilization, upcoming project demand, and workforce availability.
  • Ensure that staffing processes are efficient and effective, maintaining clear communication between consultants, project leaders, and the People Leader.
  • Measure and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess workforce effectiveness.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the staffing process by leveraging technology, data analytics, and employee feedback.

 

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in staffing, resource management, or workforce planning within a consulting, professional services, or technology firm.
  • Strong understanding of project-based staffing requirements and resource allocation strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams.
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor employees on career development.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Analytical mindset with experience using data to inform staffing and resource management decisions.
